Every year, I work with students who are super excited to apply to the University of Colorado at Boulder. I always knew it was a popular school, but having never been there, I wanted to learn more. After my recent tour, I now understand the attraction. Boulder has many great things going for it, but most importantly: location, student population, and campus vibe.
Location: A quick 45-minute drive from the Denver airport, Boulder is easily accessible. For a mountain town, there are no treacherous mountain passes to traverse; it’s a straight shot on the freeway from the airport. The city itself is inviting, walkable/bikeable, and college-student friendly.
Student population: With 32,000 undergraduate students, there is something for everyone at Boulder. As our tour guide pointed out, if you don’t make friends in the first few days at Boulder, just keep meeting more students - you’ll quickly find “your people”. From one of the most impressive student recreation centers I’ve ever seen (complete with a Buffalo-shaped pool) to the football stadium set in the middle of campus, the campus is designed to bring students together.
Campus vibe: One of the Boulder students I met summed it up well, “the vibes are great. You get to look at the mountains every day.”
