BCC at Bryn Mawr College

I recently visited Bryn Mawr College. Here are a few takeaways from my experience:

  • Bryn Mawr is a private women’s college with around 1300 undergraduate “Mawrters” (a.k.a. students). It is located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, about 20 minutes outside of the city.

  • Unfortunately, my scheduled tour was cancelled a week prior to my visit. Boo! However, instead of an impersonal email notifying me of the cancellation, I received a note from the Director of Admissions herself apologizing for the lack of available tour guides on my visit date. If this is an indication of the kind of attention and care the university pays to interested counselors/students/families, I’m impressed.

  • Without a tour, I wandered around a pretty deserted (classes had not started yet in late August), but absolutely gorgeous campus. The college had a cozy, summer camp feel with lots of trees and rolling hills. Many compare the mostly Gothic architecture to Hogwarts, modeled after Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

  • I noticed that the Office of Admissions offers many virtual options to learn more about the school, including online “Meet the Tour Guide” events. If you’re interested in learning more about this university, I recommend checking out the Bryn Mawr Admissions website.

Go Owls!
