I recently visited Point Loma Nazarene University. Here are a few takeaways from my experience:
PLNU is a private, Christian university located minutes from downtown San Diego. The university overlooks the Pacific Ocean, with incredible, sweeping views of the water. Campus tours include a sunset option to fully appreciate the beauty of the location.
The most popular majors include Business, Nursing, Psychology, and Child Development. Students studying education and child development enjoy opportunities to work for or shadow teachers at the on-campus preschool. Of interest to aspiring teachers is the 4-Year Credential track, offering a California single subject teaching credential alongside a bachelor's degree in a four-year program.
Faith is an important part of the experience at PLNU. All students are required to attend chapel time, and 91% of students participate in community service ministries.
With 11 intercollegiate athletic teams, PLNU is a NCAA Division II school. Even their athletic fields (especially the baseball field!) have incredible ocean views.
Our tour guide spoke often of the many ways to meet other students at PLNU, including annual carnivals, surf video showings, PE classes on the beach, and student-led rock-climbing and camping trips.
